“No!” Her wail echoed over the empty shoreline. Darcy’s world came crashing around her as the news sunk in. He was gone, just gone from her life. She hadn’t been with him at the end, choosing her performance above him. Yes, they needed the money she was set to earn, but the price was too high.
There was nothing without him. Her gaze swept over the sea and she contemplated joining her Tom. She started running towards foaming water, but a great weight settled on her, crushing her down.
Darcy felt arms encircling her, and inhaled her husbands scent. Instead of freaking out she felt muscles relax. Time slowed as she received that final embrace.
Tom would never be truly gone. She felt a bittersweet smile tugging her lips, as tears dripped into the ground.
