Vampire

Her first meeting with a vampire was nothing like she expected it to be. She had always thought of them as beautiful people who would seduce you. Maybe she just met the wrong one? Who knows? But here she was, facing some kind of ugly beast, who looked like he had just walked out of a grave, while rotting. The smell was almost as bad as the look, it has been the forewarning that something was approaching her.

Jessica would never know why she had ended up in that alleyway behind the club. I mean, yes, it was a shortcut to her house, and she did normally take it daily. However, she only ever took it during the daylight and never at night, like it was now. She had not been paying attention to where she was going, she had been too busy playing on her phone to actually take any notice of where her feet were leading her. Her mother had always said that the phone would be the death of her. Jessica could not help but laugh at her own situation.

She looked behind her, but she had walked quite away inside the alley, and so the distance between her and her escape seemed an immeasurable amount. There was no way that she could get past this creature. She did briefly wonder whether or not it was actually a vampire, but then she could see the fangs, and she couldn’t think of any other creature that had fangs.

Should she called the police? Indeed her thumb was already hovering over the emergency call button.

The creature was just staring at her, Jessica somehow wished that it would move in some way.

“What do you want?” Jessica found herself demanding in the end, when nothing seemed to be happening.

The creature smiled, and cocked his head to one side. “Death,” he just about whispered the word, but it still managed to sound threatening.

Jessica turned and began to run, just to try and get out of the alleyway and back onto the main street. She heard movement behind her, and press down on the call button. By the time the operator answered, Jessica was already dead. They would never find her body, even though they found her phone in the alleyway.
